Strengths: Low price, good print quality, built-in auto duplexing, relatively fast printing, easy toner loading/changing, quiet, free one-year on-site warranty.
Weakness: Fairly large for a desktop printer.
I have been using this printer for a few weeks and so far am very satisfied. All of my color printers in the past have been inkjets, but the low price convinced me to give this one a try. Text and photo quality are very good, although you can't print on specialty media, only plain paper. The built-in duplexing is a great feature - none of the similiarly-priced models seem to include this. I was...
Strengths: Fast 21ppm, Auto Duplexing, Covers PC/Mac/Linux, 800-toll free support, 1 year on-site warranty.
Weakness: Slower on color pages.
I have read many of the reviews here, and have experienced NOTHING of this supposed "Toner Chip" myth, and I have several units in my office. The toners do not need to all be replaced at once, and my own experience notes that. The CLP-510 will tell you that the toners need to be replaced when the color has run out, and you can run the colors until they are noticably absent. I haven't had to...
Strengths: decent quality print, duplex
Weakness: Greed chip requires spending $300 every 2000 pages
I called Samsung tech support to ask why all of the toner cartridges in my CLP-510 needed to be replaced at the same time. I asked if the toner replacement was programmed. They said no. I stated that it seemed extremely unlikely that they would all be empty at the same time. Like a one in a billion probability. Samsung tech support again said that it was just a coincidence. I didn't believe that...
Strengths: The printing quality is VG,
Weakness: Defective toner chips. Poor customer service The printer can only print 1200 copies/ toner and not the 7000 they claim (at 10%/page color)
The replacement toner has a memory chip. I took one apart and found it still had lots of toner but the chip did not let me use it. When in my case the yellow did not work, I could not print black only. I had to find new toner even though I did not need color. The new toner was replaced then the printer asked for a new cyan, I bought and installed a new cyan, Then it asked for a new black. I...
Strengths: Print quality good
Weakness: Killer chips and cartridges
We printed about 1000 pages and then the printer would not let us print any longer. They count the pages and unless you change the cartridges, all of them, you cannot print. There is lots of toner left in the cartridges but Samsung just wants money and that's all there is to it. I personally would never buy from Samsung again, period. The yield they state on the package is completely bogus as...
Strengths: great text quality decent picture quality (amazing for a laser) standard auto-duplexer (an optional feature on most!)
Weakness: chipped toner cartridges
I can only think of one bad thing to say about this printer which is that the toner cartridges are chipped so they stop working the instant you print 2k (for low yield cartridges) and 5k (for high yield).....the image quality is superb and text is crystal clear it is very fast and easy to set up! I can not say enough good things about this printer I got it for $269 at bestbuy! if you are on the...
Strengths: Low Price, High quality for a budget laser, no sharp edges, the funkiest duplex I've ever seen
Weakness: The coments by others is interesting about the chips , can they be reset , the Ram is to low for highspeed duplexd full images on both sides(quicker to print one side and put back in the paper bin)
The Print quality is quite good from my experience of lasers, I have used quite a few HP lasers and QMS , I bought this insted of a QMS/Minolta unit that was 799 UKP as I neaded a magenta toner for my QMS desklaser 2 , and noone had toner for it in stock localy as it's quite old now. so I got the samsung as an emergency stop gap as it's only priced at 2 and a half QMS toners seemed quite cheep. I...
Strengths: good quality print except for photos (grainy)
Weakness: Frequent jamming when in duplex mode. Overheats quickly. Samsung suggested to limit print quantities to 50 at a time, then stop to allow the printer to cool off Toner lasted just 340 pages!!
I purchased my machine just a week ago and it jammed completely after just 30 minutes (printing colour double sided on letter size paper). I exchanged the machine for a new one and the 2nd machine lasted just 140 pages (double sided). Both the yellow and the cyan toner cartridges have to be replaced. Once again there was frequent jamming (every 10 pages or so) when in duplex mode. The first...
Strengths: It took me a while, but finally got this to work on network, using an airport express. All my computers can now use it via Rendezvous. Do not need the network printer.
Weakness: The number of prints is delimited by a chip.
I have seen sales announced about kits which could be used to rework or to replace the chip and to refill the cartridges. I am fed up replacing the cartridges. Has anyone had experience with those kits? If I can get that to work, I would be pleased with the printer. Turning out to be annoying and expensive. I have not called Samsung. Samsung, please note if you read this. I shall not buy any more...

Innovative with its built-in duplex-printing module, the CLP-510 is positioned as a real challenger on the market for color laser printers. However it has some disadvantages that are related to its flexibility of use -in particular a large footprint.

Strengths: fast, quite
Weakness: pretty darn big(and heavy), would time-out and crash with multiple Gb-sized .pdf print jobs lined up
Printer would run to completely empty on any given toner and still keep printing. I mean completely!! Waste started tripping at 1/3 full so I emptied it out into trash can. Worked like a horse afterwards. Only ever paper jammed 3x on me. This was my home printer.
