PGI-5BK Black Ink Tank for Canon MP830 printer

Strengths: Ink tank worked fine.

Weakness: Weakness is really with printer. Takes too much ink.

This printer sucks up printer cartridges like they're going out of style and tells you to replace them when there's still a good 20-50 GOOD pages, or more, left in them.

No drop in ink level yet

Strengths: Fine resolution printouts, readable at fast prints

Weakness: Like all inkjet inks, it's not waterproof. Should be used up in 6 months according to instructions.

I've been printing for about a month with the ip4200, mostly black only, around 100 pages of text documents. The ink level indicator on the printer status has not yet gone down a notch, so there is good reason to believe that the inks will last over 6 months. I usually choose the fast print mode, which may explain the tank economy. Unlike laser cartridges, the ink smudges when wet, but I've yet...

Canon PGI-5BK Black Pigment Ink for iP4200 photo...

Strengths: OEM branded ink compatible with print head nozzles

Weakness: Cost. Chip in Canon brand ink cartridge signals empty prematurely

The Canon branded black pigment ink tank works well with the Canon iP4200 printer (as indeed it should). This ink is used when printing text documents. The cartridge has an electronic chip which estimates the maximum amount used in printing. The printer recognizes the information on the chip and when any one of the ink tanks is thought to be empty, printing stops. Unfortunately the amount of ink...

PGI-5Bk

Strengths: produces nice products in pixma line printers, last fairly long

Weakness: price, and chip on it make it unfillable without voiding warranty

This ink cartridge by Canon is produces great prints in my 4200 and 5200 canon printers. The ink is costly though, and because of the chip it can not be refilled without voiding warranty, which is bad for consumers, but good for Canon obviously. The chip on it is definitely the downfall in my opinion.

Canon PGI-5 Black Ink Tank

Strengths: quality of print

Weakness: expensive, no able to refill

This ink cartridge is manufactured by Canon for use in Canon printers. The printing capacity for this cartridge is medium. It does have an adequate amount of ink, but at the same time it is pretty expensive. It costed me 16.25. Also it can not be refilled due to the chip, which is quite sad.

Pixma 830

Cost to much for ink. Can not be refilled, no kits available. I was told that cannon ink tanks were the easiest to refill. That is the main reason I purchased the printer.

Canon PGI-5BK Blank Ink - Great Deal / No Hassle

Strengths: Since this is a Genuine Canon Ink Cart the printer loves it and I am confident there is no potential damage to my printer and the quality is top notch.

Weakness: Cost about twice as much as a "generic" but peace of mind is worth the extra $5 I say.

I've tried generic cartridges and never felt right mostly because I didn't want to void a warranty or let the ink run too low and possible damage the printhead. By purchasing this genuine Canon product I was happy with the quality and peace of mind. Simple to install. Comes in a single and 2 pack. Giving it 4 out of 5 stars. The product is superb. I just wish it were a little cheaper.

PGI-5Bk Black Ink Tank

Strengths: Quality Prints

Weakness: Premature low ink, cost, and smudging especially at the beginning of a new tank.

Printer stopped printing due to low ink. I was surprised with the minimal printing that I do that I was already out. When I talked to technical support, they were able to tell me how to get the saved faxes in memory to print but warned me it could run out in the middle of it and would probably only print a couple of pages. I ordered my replacement cartridge and waited to print my faxes that were...

Canon Ink Cartridges

Strengths: Easy cartridge arrangement. No fuss, no muss.

Weakness: None to speak of.

Canon has designed an ink tank carriage assembly that is easy to deal with, even if one "fatfingers" things a lot. The clear view cases of the ink tanks allow for visual inspection of the ink level in each of the tanks, and the removal - reinstall of those tanks is a cakewalk.

Expensive - But Proven Quality

Strengths: Quality Canon Ink, Assured Compatibility

Weakness: Expensive Proprietary Format

Well, if you have a Canon Pixma MP800 (or compatible) as I do, you realize that you don't really have alternative options for ink cartridges. Good news is, Canon puts out a quality ink cartridge that lasts long enough; bad news is, you're gonna pay up for it. The proprietary cartridge includes a chip/circuitry that at least for me has provided excellent print quality and feedback on ink levels...
