Strengths: uses canon's proven ink transparent and allows user to see ink level if cartridge is removed
Weakness: costly runs out pretty quick
This canon 8 bk (cli-8bk) cartridge, is inside the canon pixma 4200 or 5200, produces fine photo's and the ink is suppose to last for quite some time. I can easily produce lab quality prints with this ink, although I do think canon should lower the price some because its quite expensive and it runs out fairly quickly.
Strengths: Cartridge prints fine. Expensive, though.
Weakness: Problem is really with the printer. Uses too much ink.
This printer sucks up printer cartridges like they're going out of style and tells you to replace them when there's still a good 20-50 GOOD pages, or more, left in them.
Strengths: Being a Canon Product for one. Easy to install, quality ink.
Weakness: Price a bit high, but what isn't from Canon

Strengths: Does not smudge or skip. Works perfectly with IP4200 printer driver software.
Weakness: More costly than Staples alternative. Must be consumed in 6 months.

It's a piece of cake to replace these, and it's nice that black/colors are sold seperately. Would be nice if it lasted longer and were less expensive.

Over all, this product worked exactly as described. And at the pricegrabber price, you can't go wrong. I print a lot of photos so it seems like the ink goes quickly but I think thats just the nature of the beast. I received a black, red, blue and yellow and they were all brand new and perfect.

The prints look great with this ink and Canon IP4200 Printer. The main con for this ink is that it is expensive like all other OEM ink. You can't buy generic carts yet. But, I have been re-filling the carts with pretty good results. I got one bad refill (done hastely, early in the morning while printing resumes for a interview that day). Weakness: ink is easy to spill and expensive
The ink does not last long, the cartridge come with the printer last no more than a month with only about 50 pages. The cartridge is easy to spill. When I break the plastic cover before installation, quite a bit of ink spilled, which cost quite a bit to purchase in the begining.

Personally, I hate it that I can't get cheap knockoffs, in general; however, I guess that the quality of the final prints is much better. Certainly, this looks a lot better than the ink from the older ip4000 did.

Strengths: high quality print, easy to install, easy to see ink level

This ink system seems to perform very well so far. My prints come out fast, crisp, and clear. I usually prefer separate ink tanks systems like this so you can just replace each color as they run out. My only complaint about this cartridge is its cost. My printer goes through so many cartridges to produce photo-quality prints that it can add up quickly.
