Fantastic printer for the price!

Strengths: Wonderful glossy prints as well as luster/satin prints on Epson paper

Weakness: Small problem with paper feed mechanism

Installation of the Epson R1900 Printer went very smoothly as I anticipated, having previously installed 5 other Epson printers in the last 9 years. The only surprise I experienced was the absence of a USB cable with the printer. This necessitated a trip to my local electronics store. I began the printing process using Epson’s Ultra Premium Luster using “Photoshop Determines Colors” as my preference and “WOW”; I got a perfectly matched print on a 13 X 19 sheet on the first try. My monitor and print were in sync immediately. I was almost afraid to try a second one for fear of not getting the same results, but I forged ahead and loaded an 8 ½ X 11 sheet of Ilford Printasia Premium Photo Glossy, and changed the settings to invoke the Optimizer. Another “WOW” experience. The print was fantastic. The best glossy print I’ve ever been able to produce in all the years I’ve been printing was suddenly there. I selected a photograph that had strong reds and oranges to print since those two colors have been a problem in the past to create the intensity and saturation I desired. The R1900 handled them beautifully.
A few days later I purchased some Epson Premium Glossy paper and used the ICC profile to print three portraits for a client. Fantastic! The colors of the skin tones were right on the money and sharp as a tack.
The only problem I encountered was the paper feeder on the R1900. The design is different than my Epson R2400 and did not feed the paper properly when using 13 X 19 sheets of luster even after placing 8 sheets into the feeder paper path. The problem did not exist for 8 ½ X 11 sheets however. I finally did a work around by placing a piece of cardboard into the feeder area and its thickness now allows the printer to grab the paper stock on the first try.
The print quality, colors and saturation is really spectacular and I’m very much pleased with the output that the R1900 is giving me. A fantastic printer for the price!

A nice printer, but if you are printing on CDs,...

Strengths: prints 13" wide

Weakness: Won't allow printing to CDs from application of your choice. Only allows CD printing from Epson's Print CD software.

If, like me, you've got hundreds of templates created in Filemaker Pro, specifically to print onto CDs, it is a major design flaw for Epson to only allow printing from their application.
Also, I might add, their tech support people were very unhelpful, basically saying that it was up to me to figure it out, and not interested in the possibility that their driver might be screwed up.

Stylus Photo R1900 Inkjet Printer Review

Strengths: Extremely Easy Set-up

Weakness: None

The packing was very secure and the unpackaging of the 1900 was very organized in removing the contents.

The instructions were easy with step by step instructions and to the point.

The actual start-up from unpacking, assembling and bringing the printer on line took only minutes.

The operation of the 1900

When I turned on the printer it did the system check in approximately 30 seconds.
The actual printing of an image was remarkably faster than my old printer which was an Epson 2200.

The Image of the 1900

A very noticeable difference in skin tones compared to other printers; of which I have never seen an image appear to be so clear and life like.
The color with the addition of the orange and red inks really improve the natural color.
The sharpness of the image was significancely improved compared to my previous printer.

I would highly recommend this printer for the serious amateur and semi-professional photographer for ease of operation, great natural colors and improved sharpness. This product is well worth the asking price.

Stylus Photo R1900 Inkjet Printer

Strengths: borderless printing fade resistant ink professional-like quality

Weakness: no wireless card

I'm very pleased with my Stylus Photo R1900 Inkjet Printer. I've been "on the hunt" for quite awhile for the "perfect" printer that would allow me to both print 12x12 pages for scrapbooking and print my own photography. I'm very satisfied with this printer - well worth the wait.

Stacy's new printer

Strengths: Quick set-up, comprehendible instructions, accommodates sheet and roll paper

Weakness: NONE

I just got an Epson Stylus R1900 and I love it. My husband is the “technical” person in the house. But, I am proud to say that I put it together by myself! The instructions were self-explanatory, so even I could understand them. I thought I would be overwhelmed with ink installations and paper handling. This wasn’t the case. All I had to do was shake the cartridges a bit and I was on my way. I went from opening the box, to installing the drivers in 30 minutes. The best thing about it was getting my first print. It works better then I imagined

Epson 1400

Strengths: None

Weakness: Printer does not work

I purchased an Epson 1400 for doing large format photography. I have tried to download the software but it will not configure on my computer. After numerous attempts to load the sofware and after several emails to the help desk I have not gotten any results.I am trying to return my Epson 1400. I will not buy another Epson product. I have never been so frustrated with a product in my life.I do not recommend Epson to anyone considering one of their products.

Epson R1900 a Great Printer

Strengths: Excellent color rendering Ease of use and setup Handles large media with ease and speed

Weakness: A bit large and bulky

I needed a printer that would go large enough to produce the 12 x 12 scrapbook pages for my wife and meet my own needs of printing standard size prints from 4x6 to 8.5x11, labels and printable CDs.

I have found the printer and I need to look no further!

The Epson Stylus PHOTO R1900 answers all of my needs and goes to an even larger size of 13x19 that I look forward to exploring.

I am very happy with the user interface and found it easy to setup, install drivers, and use the provided software. It was a simple matter of installing the driver CD, following the on-screen instructions, attaching the printer via USB, and it was ready to print. The driver software interfaces seamlessly with other applications on my computer such as word processing and scrapbooking software, and it proves easy to change print settings in the print dialogue.

The Print CD software was simple to work with and it took me only about 10 minutes to start it up, import graphics, and print good quality directly to a printable CD instead of using a “stick-on” label.

The printer produces photos and pages with vibrant color. Even without calibration, the color closely matches what is on the screen. I am amazed that it takes less than 2 minutes to print out a full color 8.5 x 11 page. I have used both store brand and Epson papers to print and found that the Epson paper by far gives me the best print quality.

All in all, I give the Epson Stylus PHOTO R1900 a 5 out of 5 rating. I think it is an excellent printer for the serious hobbyist who requires more than just standard color photo printing from their personal printer.

Epson Stylus Photo R1900
