Pixma iP1800 Inkjet Printer

Strengths: inexpensive, good print quality

Weakness: slow photo printing

Pixma iP1800 Inkjet Printer is overall a good printer for the price. The text comes out good, the color for photo print is clear and sharp. The software installation is relatively easy and it's compatible with PC or Mac. It's pretty slow when it prints in color but for B&W, it's pretty fast for an inkjet.

Simple Printer Delivers Simply Average Results

Strengths: Compact Design | Very Affordable Price | Crisp Text Prints, Quality Photo Prints

Weakness: No Media Card Reader | No Paper Tray | Expensive Ink | Just Average

Although you shouldn't expect much from a $50 printer, the Canon Pixma iP1800 managed to deliver quality prints and crisp text at a low cost. The biggest problem with the printer (excluding the expensive ink, which plagues virtually all inkjet printers) is the lack of an output paper tray. I lack desk space with my dual monitor setup, so I had to put the printer high up on top of the desk, right at the edge. What this means is as the page is finished printed, instead of sitting snuggly in a paper tray, the paper just ejects into open air.. which means I often have to pick up my prints from off the floor. After it happened for the umpteenth time, I got fed up and gave the printer away.

If this isn't an issue for you, then the printer will serve you just fine as a cheap, average printer with no outstanding features whatsoever. It's as plain as plain can be, so if you are looking for something special, look elsewhere.

Canon Pixma iP1800 Inkjet Printer

Strengths: Cheap, can be purchased free after rebate as a bundle with a new computer quite often. Gives you the ability to print a photo at home.

Weakness: No included usb cable. Photo ink is expensive.

Somewhat of a pet peeve, but usb cables are quite cheap (if you don't buy them at a big box retailer), and it wouldn't affect the price of the printer at all to include one in the box. It prints decent photos, but uses ink up quickly, just like most photo printers. Great for the occasional print, or for something custom you want to do at home.

Great small photo printer

Strengths: High resolution, fast printing speed, quiet printing, small and compact design

Weakness: Ink tanks are expensive, no cable included

This is a quite compact photo printer which doesn't take much of your desktop space. The resolution is very high, 4800x1200 DPI, which is good enough for family use and normal photo printing. This printer is very quiet when it is printing and the speed is ok (20ppm). The only thing is that the ink tank may be used up easily and they are quite expensive. The printer doesnot come with usb 2.0 cable.

Budget Printing

Strengths: Price, Style, Size

Weakness: Slow

As noted, this printer can be had for next to nothing - free in some cases. For a very inexpensive printer, it is solidly built, compact, and quite stylish. The negatives are speed, relatively expensive ink, and lack of a cable. Since all the profits are in the ink, the fact that manufacturers do not include a USB cable so you can begin using it immediately is amazing to me.

good photo printer

Strengths: Good photo quality. cheap price

Weakness: No memory card slots

I love Canon printers. They usually have good printing quality. And I think the photo quality is best, if you use Canon paper too. I used some HP paper, and found the quality is not as good. The only problem is it does not have memory card slot. So you must have it connected to the computer. Since I have a couple of computers at home, to share the printer is a bit of pain. Overall, this is a good printer for the money.

Nice Printer

Strengths: works well, easy to install, looks nice

Weakness: ink usage is high

this is a very nice printer if you can find it for $20 or less. over that price, i think there are better options. it has sort of a cheap feel to it but works very well. it consumes ink very quickly though and replacements are expensive. no trouble setting this up with xp either, so that's a plus.

Great little printer for the price.

Strengths: Good printer quality...fairly speedy.

Weakness: Replacement ink cartridges aren't super cheap, but whose are?

Has been working great as a basic printer. I needed something that printed color, as my laser printer is only B&W. I'm surprised at the good output, though I haven't tried printing pictures. I usually get those professionally done, anyhow, due to the lower cost for 4x6 prints:)

Canon Pixma ip1800

Strengths: Small, lightweight printer, easy to use, price

Weakness: Ink is expensive, no paper tray. Supplied ink is only 40%

Decent printer for the money. prints out nice photos and text. Prints come out fast, especially documents. Setup was easy and all in all, it's a good printer for the average jobs.

Nice basic photo printer

Strengths: Cheap. Acceptable print quality.

Weakness: Ink is expensive.

This is a very basic photo printer. But what can you ask for from a $50 printer! It works just like any other printers - eat paper, spit photo, and won't disappoint you too much. Don't expect to see those fancy functions either - like card slot, separate small paper feeder, etc. Overall it worths what you pay, and that's about it.

Nice Printer

Strengths: Inexpensive, simple, easy to setup and to operate

Weakness: None (at this price range)

The Canon PIXMA iP 1800 is very affordable; one of the good choices if all you need is to print text and some eventual pictures with reasonable quality.

This printer is also very easy to setup and to operate. Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Entry Level Ink Jet

Strengths: Space saver

Weakness: For the price, none.

Easy setup. Quite during printing. The resolution is very high, 4800x1200 DPI, which is good enough for family use and normal photo printing espcially if you use a Canon photo paper.
Save ink by printing draft for text only documents.
Just like any entry level printer, not individual color ink tank.
Well, for the price, how could one complain. Got it free after rebate.
Highly recommended if you got this for less.

Great printer but expensive ink replacement

Strengths: lightweight, compact, crisp printouts, easy to install

Weakness: usb cable sold separately, not an all-in-one, expensive ink

This printer was part of a bundle i purchased. For the price, it's was a good investment. Make sure you have a USB cable before you buy though because the printer didn't come with one. It's a great printer but please be aware that ink replacement is on the pricey side.

Pixma ip1800 inkjet printer

Strengths: Small in size, Stylish & Printing quality is very excellent.

Weakness: None. Except expensive ink.

I like canon product.I have also canon digital camera & another canon all-in-one printer (MP160). I found Pixma ip1800 inkjet printer in combo offer i.e. computer + printer. This cheap after mail-in-rebate.Printing quality & brightness looks good. Easy to use. Speed is slow than others. Only 40% ink in cartridges as notified by retailer. Overall it is good for economical price & combo offer.

Average product

Strengths: Price, easy to setup

Weakness: size/footprint, no output tray

The best feature about this printer is price - it's possible to find it for just a few bucks after rebate (usually with purchase of computer/notebook/network equipment). The setup process is easy - but I would be surprised (and really disappointed) if it's not. The printer quality is good for the printer's class, "first page" waiting time is a bit long but acceptable. The only weakness I can think of is that the printer is a quite bulky for it's class and the absence of output tray which could be inconvenient in some situations.

Compact printer with nice output

Strengths: Good photo and text printouts

Weakness: No otput tray. Does not include USB cable

The printer works well for me. It's compact, fast, and produces good print results for pictures as well as text documents. It would be nice to have an output paper tray but not necessary. I do have to purchase a USB cable which is no big deal...about $5. Overall it's a great printer for the price.

Good cheap printer

Strengths: Size, speed of prinouts

Weakness: Ink goes quickly

I bought this printer at CompUSA for very cheap after rebate and it's worth it for the cost for sure. It's a small printer with a hip look. The printouts are quick and sharp (especially text.) The color on pictures and photographs leaves something to be desired but not bad for a day to day printer. The ink goes quickly but is not too expensive to replace, I hear.

An OK printer for the price and quality

Strengths: Bright colors and nice sharp text

Weakness: Cartridge runs out quickly

I got this just for printing photos and they came out decent with bright colors. Option for borderless picture is neat. Printer is light and may be a little wide for some. It's fairly fast. I wish the cartridge lasts longer. The cartridge price is typical of similar inkjet printers. Overall it's not bad for the price I paid. I believe Canon quality is good as well.

stylish photo printer, goes well with the HP...

Strengths: prints good quality photo

Weakness: printer size is too big print speed is slow expansive ink

This is my second canon printer, I used to own a canon i455 photo printer about 2 years ago and continued to use it for about 1 year until I switched to a BW HP laser printer for documents, it still serves for very small amount of photo/color print tasks. I found no significant improvements on this one over the i455, except the ink cartridge are twice expensive than the i455 and the huge size. The least satisfactory aspect about this printer is its size, it uses only two cartridges, while take up almost as much as the epson r340 which uses a 6-ink cartridge system, the i455 is way compact than this. Other than that, I'm pretty satisfied with the performance, but like I said, I don't see too much improvement over the i455, for photo prints, it's still very slow and quality is about the same as i455. For a 4*6 photo, it takes more than one minute to finish. There's one difference on the connectors, they seem to remove the direct print port on the i455, this is no big deal to me, I've only used once on the i455 anyway. So overall, this is a pretty basic printer, definitely NOT worth the retail price $49.99, I would not have bought this printer if they don't have the $50 rebate promotion with computer purchase. The cartridges are not recyclable to the staples, and the price of the cartridges are pretty expensive, not very economical to use. For the same money, I would suggest to look for other brands.

Good Entry Level Photo Printer

Strengths: price of printer (not ink), color printing quality, ease of setup, stylish design

Weakness: relatively slow when printing color photos, expensive ink

This printer was supposed to be cheap after rebates but ink cartridges are expensive. Like the other two Canon printers I've owned, color printing quality is great but a little slow. Setup was easy with Vista OS. I personally like the black body color and think the design is stylish compared to HP or Lexmark printers.

Excellent combo offer with notebook

Strengths: Easy setup, Nice photo quality, Poster size photo print, Economical price.

Weakness: Expensive ink, Consumes more ink for poster photo print. Heavy weigth.

It came with notebook and after mail-in rebate it became free. Due to high resolution, it has excellent quality print, with relatively little good speed. It is very easy to setup and easy to operate. Since ink (cartridge) is costly and it consumes more ink, however, I am happy with their quality of photo ... it is great. My kids got admire to see their poster photo too.

A decent photo printer with an affordable price tag

Strengths: Inexpensive; great print quality; borderless photo printing; Vista compatible

Weakness: Short warranty; ink cartridge could be expensive

Setting up this printer is a snap, and the good thing is that it supports Vista OS, but you still have to get yourself a USB cable to hook up with computer. With 4800x1200 dpi resolution, the photo printing quality is quite decent and the printing speed is pretty fast. When it prints, it's very quiet (expecially if you compare with latest HP models). Its affordable price tag and compact footprint also makes it a good home printer.

Nows comes to its shortage. Canon only gives you 90-day warranty on this printer. Its kind of short considering it's a "new" printer instead of a "reburbished" one. When it's time to replace the cartridges, the prices are pretty steep: $19.99 for a black cartridge and $24.99 for a color one.

If you only do some occasional printing like me, I think this is a great home printer considering its print quality, speed, capabilities ,and price.

Affordable photo pinter with good quality

Strengths: Fast printing speed, high resolution, small and light weighted, cheap price

Weakness: none

This small compact desktop printer can deliver a high quality printing job, with 4800x1200 DPI resolution. The printing speed is not bad and it is quiet. The package comes with new ink tanks but no usb cable. The first set of ink seems to drain fast, maybe they are not fully loaded. For the cheap price, this printer does all its job!

Good printer for the price.

Strengths: Nice image quality and print speed.

Weakness: Expensive cartriges

It is a good everyday printer for your normal text and occational photo printing. Canon replacement cartrige is very expensive. I will instead buy a cartrige refill kit.

Pros:
1. Nice image output quality
2. Decent speed of printing
3. Good price

Cons:
1. Expensive replacement cartrige
2. Not compatible with Windows98 or ME

Simple Basic Printer with GREAT quality

Strengths: Compact, easy to use, inexpensive

Weakness: No media card reader, expensive ink

Canon iP1800 is a basic inexpensive easy to use printer from CANON that produces GREAT text and decent quality pictures. It is very compact and does not take up too much space on the desk. Original INK can be expensive, but I had some luck with generic INK. It came free with my computer so can't complain about the price. Among its class of printers, it is decent quality. From a basic printer, I do not expect too much. It should do good quality printing for whatever it claims to print. Other bells & whistles will for sure cost more.

Canon Pixma iP1800

The iP1800 exceeded our expectations of how well a $50 printer could perform. Though shadow detail was lacking and blacks appeared too light, the iP1800’s ability to produce very good photos was impressive for a printer at this price.
