Paper feed problem

Strengths: Network

Weakness: paper feed

Buyers should be aware that this printer has a serious paper feed defect. After a few months of use, the printer can no longer feed paper automatically. This is a design defect; many users have reported this problem.

Photosmart 2575

Strengths: Three devices for the price of one. Nice software package included for MS Windows. Works beautifully in Linux, drivers provided by HP. Very nice onboard LCD and camera card slots allows photo printing

Weakness: Bottom paper feed means lightly curly pages after printing, especially 4X6 photos. Ink is a bit pricy. Printed pages fall down and lie on top of paper in paper tray. HP is still stuck on having all 3

I love this printer. It is very easy to plug in a camera card, choose photos to print through the on-board software and LCD screen, and print them out. Photo print quality is excellent, even with the regular (non-photo) ink cartridge ( and I only have a 2.0 Megapixel camera). Copying both photos and text is very easy using the on-board buttons. Being able to scan over a network is a very nice feature. For the price, this is the best deal out there.

Excellent with minor quircks

Strengths: Network ready (works best with XP) Relatively cheap and efficient cartridges Good quality prints and scan

Weakness: Yet to get it work with windows 2000 professional laptop Bulky software which gets installed if you use the CD 3 reboots to install !!!!

Overall good value for money. Many people reported problems with page feeding, but I am yet to experience. Probably HP solved that problem.
You can try using the bare bones driver software from HP instead of CD.

I thought I did my homework before buying this...

Weakness: Paper jam

...but apparantly not. I printed less than 20 pages before it started not loading the paper. When I manually load the paper, the printer jams up and the only way to remove the paper is throught a back door on the printer. I've tried everything from cleaning to changing paper with no luck. What a waste of money. I got only 20 pieces of printed paper for $180.

HP Photosmart 2575 AIO

Strengths: Great scan and print quality. Lots of print size options. Scans amazingly fast. Takes up less room. Quick and easy to understand menus. It has a card reader and is picture bridge compatable.

Weakness: I haven't found any yet.

I wanted an AIO because my space is limited. I liked this model because it had a card reader and is picture bridge compatable. My daughter is into scrapbooking and wanted a printer that would print 3.5 x 5 pictures. In reading all I could find about this AIO it said nothing about being able to do that without a computer. I talked live to a HP rep and ask them if it would print 3.5 x 5 without a computer and they told me "no" but it would print 4x6. I was disappoited but I decided I would buy it anyway. The price was a great value. I found it for 166.00 total online. I was thrilled to find out that not only will it print 3.5 x 5 but it will print 3x4, wallets, and customized sizes as well. I also scanned in some hazy original pictures that had been taken with a 35m camera and hit a few ajustment buttons and the scanned copy came out better looking than the original, all without a computer. I am absolutely thrilled with this AIO. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to print pictures quick and easy without having to use the computer. As for the software, I've never intalled it.

I was wondering about the 3.5 x 5 printing as well. How did you figure out how to print 3.5 x 5 and smaller?

HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart 2575 Multifunction...

Strengths: Great Quality Photos, Intuitive Control Panel, Fast and Quiet

Weakness: Lacking a print out paper tray

I recently bought this printer at Best Buy. I wasn’t even looking for an all-in-one printer. However, the simple ink jet printers just look… well.. cheap. The higher end ones are just too much for what I want to spend. So.. I soon considered that it would actually be nice having a copier/printer/scanner for home use. Plus, it was on sale for only $159.00! ($199.00 – instant rebate of $40.00).

Considering the price, I’m impressed! I was an original HP Deskjet 550C owner years ago. I was happy with it and got many years of reliable service. When it was time to upgrade, I fell for the positive Epson reviews and switched to an Epson Photo Stylus-750. What a pile of junk and what a mistake. Well.. I’m back to HP and couldn’t be happier.

Out of the box setup was a snap and the built in network interface allowed me to put it on my home network saving on the $30.00 USB cable. I didn’t even know it had an Ethernet interface till I was plugging it in! I have a LinkSys wireless router and plugged the printer into one of the three wired port connections. The printer set itself up! I didn’t have to do anything. It auto detected my network and received an IP address.

It comes with black (#98) and tri-color (#95) ink cartridges. On the box, you will notice that for photo printing you it says you need the photo-color (#99) cartridge. I didn’t buy it. Let me tell you, the photos I printed out, both 4 x 6 sheets and a 8 x 10 sheet, with the 95/98 cartridges was very good on high-gloss photo paper. I’m not sure how much better it could get, but I’m going to buy the #99 photo-color cartridge soon and find out.

It has several media interfaces for digital camera memory cards. None of which supported my old Olympus memory card. No worries!! It has a USB port right along side of the memory card interfaces. I just connected my camera directly to the printer and in seconds was selecting, proofing, and printing out 4 x 6 photos on sample premium HP photo paper that came with the printer—without any dependency on the computer! NICE!!

Finally, I tested the color and black/white copier. It worked perfectly from the control panel with only two button clicks. Again, no need for the computer. Speaking of the control panel, it is very intuitive, uncluttered, and easy to use. I never even looked at the directions. It’s relatively quick and quiet. If there is anything negative I could come up with it would be the following. The paper is fed from the lower front and returned from the upper front. However, there is no tray to catch the print outs. They just drop on the lower tray that is feeding the paper. I would suggest that HP should put an upper tray to catch the print outs. As a matter of fact, I’ll probably try and add one myself somehow.

Overall.. The HP Smartphoto 2575 All-in-One is an excellent printer.

HP 2575 All-in-One Printer

Strengths: Ease of operation. Easy to understand Menus

Weakness: None that have shown up. (yet)

I like the low profile, and the fact you don't have a stack of papers sticking up in the back. I found this system of paper feeding much more efficient than the gravity feed of my Epson Stylus. Although somewhat noisier. copies and scans are much faster. Very pleased with the overall looks and performance.

Was this product tested???

Strengths: Price/feature ratio, connectivity options (USB/Network), LCD screen

Weakness: Ease of installation (s/w), Buggy software, installation s/w that takes longer than installing most modern operating systems

I haven't had this much trouble installing hardware since the early days of plug and play (Win98 days). When I first installed the packaged s/w from the CD, I did the full install. The install got about 94% complete, then required a reboot. After the reboot my CD and DVD drives were gone preventing the install from completing, because it was wanting to run more software from the CD! Chatted with tech support and I had to manually remove registry keys to get the CD and DVD drive back. Fortunately I was able to restore (WinXP) to the day before the install of the printer s/w. I tried the full install again, same result loss of CD and DVD drives. I restored again, and this time tried the Basic install. This time the install worked without removing my CD and DVD drives. I'm now trying to get the scanner to work. When I scan it says "The ADF cannot pick the paper...". Why does a scanner need to pick up paper if I just want to scan an image to the computer? I don't know what the ADF is, but my paper tray is not jammed, because I can print just fine. I chatted with HP tech support again, and they said they'd e-mail directions on getting the scanner to work. So far it's been 10 hours since the chat, and I haven't received an e-mail from HP. I'm pretty close to packing this up and taking it back to the store. So far I've spent several hours trying to install what should be a plug and play device. I'm amazed that the install software takes 25 minutes to install! I think it took less time to install Windows XP...

Photosmart 2572 All -in-one

Strengths: It's small, reliable, easy to use, can use without the computer.

Weakness: ??? none yet

After lots PROBLEMS with a DELL(i.e. horizontal stripes and high priced ink that wouldn't work) with the FREE All-In-One that came with our computer, my husband wanted to get me a reliable one that printed pictures well for my birthday. After reading many reviews, we still couldn't decide between a couple, so we went to a store to compare the print outs of the various "all-in-ones" and check out the different HP models. We have had two other printers and two separate scanners but decided to go with the All-in-one to upgrade to save on space (even though the two free all-in-ones are NOT printing well).
I have several friends with HPs, and they all recommended them for reliability and great quality. We really liked the coping accuracy of this HP all-in-one. So we went On Line, and found it for $131 with free shipping ($25 off if got a credit card)- What a deal!!
I had it within 6 days and it was so easy to install with XP pro, and I am a computer novice. I was up and running within 25 min. The ink cartridges were very easy to install.
I've had it a couple days and so far am VERY impressed. I have printed 4X6 pictures and they have been very good. The copier is excellent, and general printing from the computer has been easy and great. It prints all my envelopes (including 1/4 card envelopes- which my other all-in-one wouldn't do.) I still haven't tested everything, but it's fun to see what it will do.

Excellent all in one

Strengths: small footprint lcd display memory card slots

Weakness: none so far

I replaced a HP D135 with this Photosmart 2575. The D135 was large, especially when compared to this new one. That is a plus for me. I know that some have complained that there is no output tray. It's true, the printed sheets come out on top (but slightly further out) of the blank paper tray. So far, that hasn't been too much of an annoyance for me. I had a bad habit of letting the sheets pile up too much anyway, this will help break me of that!

I bought it on clearance for $139.98, and picked up some spare printer cartridges at a good sale price at the same time. I'm getting the HP printer/any digital camera $50 rebate also, so I feel like I got a good deal. I am happy with my purchase.

A nice all-in-one inkjet printer

Strengths: Cheap, cute, easy to use, good lcd display, nice memory card slots

Weakness: Color picture print could be better

For the price, and the quality of HP photosmart, this printer is great. Easy to install, easy to use, good software.

Print> "Properties" allows you to select black cartridge only, and 2-sided (manually) printing. You are may assign a name to a set of print properties, but are not allowed to default to that set.> Color pictures on plain paper are good, but not thrilling. Have not tried photo paper.> Print is Noisy. Takes a few seconds to respond to print command, then prints very quickly.

Scan> Most excellent and easy. You can specify resolution and subsection of picture to scan. Documents can be run through optical character resolution, which does a reasonably good job.

Copy> easy and clear in black and white. Have not tried color.

General> Fax not included, and would have been appreciated, all other things being equal.> You have to power it on manually. Issuing a print command from the PC does not activate the printer to turn on.> Documentation in box was crumpled. Sloppy packing.

Photosmart 2575 All-in-One

Strengths: Compact, versatile, networking capability, print quality

Weakness: Software is buggy - The scanning software crashes frequently, and the process cannot be killed through Force Quit -

This multifunction printer is a good value - The unit is elegant and reliable. The print and scan quality are good. Its make weakness is the reliability of the software. The scanning software is particularly buggy. The "auto" option is not smart enough to figure out that the scan of a blank sheet of paper with one printed word should not result in a $3 MB file !!

What Windows are you running? How much memory? How many USB devices do you have? These are all things that could be involved in your crashes.

a good all-in-one printer

Strengths: fast and decent print/copy quality, it has lcd viewer

Weakness: none so far

It is a very decent all-in-one printer. It prints/scans/copies fast and has pretty good quality. It has a LCD viewer so that you can see the picture while you print. besides, you don't need computer to print photos. it can print different size of photos. Overall, it is one of the decent HP printers.

This printer has been nothing but trouble since it came from the box. First it is slow and I mean slow. If you have purchases this for an office and expect to make copies with even thought to speed save your money this is not for you. It takes for ever to install and guess what??? Re-install over and over. It has constant paper jams wrong size paper alerts you name it. Over all it is a terrible machine and just goes to prove that HP quality has fallen to the bottom of the barrel.

Not for an Office

Strengths: Card reader, scanner, quick start up

Weakness: Paper jams, poor ink efficiency

I would recommend this printer for light duty work at home. I think it would work well if it is being used simply for printing documents at home and for the occasional photo.
I have this printer in my office (it was here when I got here.) I have many problems with it. It gets very finicky with feeding paper often it will feed three sheets at a time then stretch a document onto these three wasting paper. It jams very frequently. We use this printer for all of our color documents(it's the only color printer in the office.) When printing flyers if I have a single color that used as a background for just half of a document I will get only 27 copies out of one ink cartridge. With moderate color usage I can get about 50 copies from an ink cartridge. Light color usage (mostly text but all color text(eg. an invitation)) I don't have a problem with ink efficiency. But at $35 for two color cartridges 27 copies is ridiculous, it is cheaper to have them professionally printed (they look better professionally done too.)

The quality of photos is decent but the Canon i6000D that I use at home is far superior to this printer. I intend to purchase the Canon MP530 for use in my office at work to replace this HP 2575 All-In-One.
